Day 2 - Divide and Conquer 1. Draw your country from the hat. Negotiate. 2. Research - look at the links I have provided you and brainstorm what ingredients you see repeated, interesting, and do-able. 3. Flyer It - each group draws an advertising flyer- include:
Title & Drawing of your Dish
Your country - name and drawing of country
List of main spices - at least 3.
Unique main ingredients x2 - vegetableand fruit or meat
Your recipe - write it out (after researching) - see notes to right.
Recipe researching tips: look up 3-4 recipes of whatever dish you want to prepare; see what ingredients they have in common; see if any more common ingredients replace some of the more expensive/harder-to-find ingredients; lastly, build the recipe you want using the others!
Day 3 - Macin' around the World!!! [We will be headed to the kitchen to make our own fresh pasta. Basic Pasta Dough recipe We will be using Semolnia flour, which comes from Durum or Macaroni Wheat. (fact)] I am NOT doing the pasta making activity due to time this year... We will be making our Mac dishes though as listed below...
All dishes will include the following.
Pasta (I will have this cooked and ready)
Butter (we will make it) - optional
Cheese (I will select types)
Milk or Buttermilk - optional
Flour - optional
Your recipe must be an adaptation of an online recipe and include the following:
Spice or seasoning that is unique or a strong example of your country's cuisine.
Vegetable that is also a strong example of your country's cuisine.
NO MEAT - you can add an additional vegetable or spice but this must be pre-approved by teacher.
