What is life?  What does it take to be considered "alive"?  In this unit we will explore some fundamental questions about the nature of life and the characteristics that all living things have in common here on Earth.
We will explore how living things are related, organized into groups, via classification...and we will learn the different characteristics of the 2 domains and 5 kingdoms of life.

Summary Paragraph.  What am I made of and where did “I” come from? You started out as a single cell, then grew into a baby, and now you are much larger than a baby.   How did you get from a single cell to a living organism that weighs over 50 pounds?  Where did all that extra “you” come from?  What are the ingredients that make up cells - that make you you?  Hint: use at least two of the characteristics of life in your discussion.

Choose your species (one that exists today as in is not extinct) - this can be from any of the six Kingdoms: plant, animal, fungi, protista, bacteria, archaea...and start your project.   Your work must be original and in your own words...so take your time and be creative.  See the examples for how this should look pictured on your right and below.

If you are totally done - watch the videos embedded below and take detailed notes.  Turn these in for extra credit. Good luck and have fun!!!
