Welcome to my honors biology classroom website. Honors biology differs from general biology in several key ways:
Academic Rigor: This course will cover the content at a greater depth, and student's will be expected to learn an increased number of learning targets and vocabulary terms.
Learning Targets and Assessment: The learning objectives (targets) for each unit will differ from general biology in difficulty and number (there may be more per unit).
Some units will differ entirely (cell function and division) and will require students to work, in groups or independently, on a project that will take several weeks to complete.
I do NOT assign a lot of homework (usually one assignment per week). I expect that students will regularly review their notes, online presentations, read the online chapters (THS Biology Textbook), review vocabulary terms (Quizlet), and look over the various posted links.
Each unit (topic) covered will have its own page, which will include all relevant course materials. Use the drop-down menu above or click on the links below. I grade using the proficiency grading system (please visit the link for further details). Students must attain a Meets (MTS) level on EACH unit in order to receive a passing grade.
