Sub Day - Wednesday 10/30 1. Video on Food Labeling. Watch the video as class and then read the following article on nutritional labeling. (5 min) 2. Read the Nutritional Labeling article. Focus on numbers 1-2 (if you have time read). You should be able to calculate the total calories in a container of food after reading this. (10 min) 3. Open this Food Label example page. On your Enter/Exit slip write down the type of food for each label and calculate the total number of calories per package for each food item (10 total). Put your name and date on the ticket and turn in at the end of class. (15 min) 4. Video on Nutrition Labels and Calories. Takes notes on your Enter/Exit slip on how many calories you need per day; how many calories from fat per day; how many grams of protein per day; and how many calories from carbohydrates per day. (10 min) 5. Understanding the Food Label article. Read the article (it is actually very to-the-point and full of solid information). Look over the glossary on page 3 carefully and familiarize yourself with some of the terms and how they relate to food labeling. (15 min)
